Internally inconsistent
[edit]The text implies that the 489 designation applied only the driving cars, with the passenger coaches having a different 488 designation. If that is correct, then the first line of the article claiming that the 489 is a type of electrical multiple unit cannot also be correct. By definition, a single car is not a type of multiple unit, although it can of course be part of a multiple unit.
If the 489 is correctly a type of multiple unit, then the designation must apply to more than one car working together, in which case the passenger coaches must be part of the 489.
I don't know which of these is correct, so I cannot correct. But clearly this needs attention and correction. -- Starbois (talk) 17:39, 24 March 2009 (UTC)

[edit]This article is currently named in accordance the Wikipedia:WikiProject UK Railways naming conventions for British rolling stock allocated a TOPS number.
